What is laser therapy?
Laser therapy (also called photobiomodulation, sometimes referred to as LLLT — Low-Level Laser Therapy) is a non-invasive medical technique that uses low-intensity laser radiation to stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation and relieve pain. At Gouizine Clinic in Temsia (Agadir), we use it alongside physiotherapy to accelerate healing.
Main indications
Laser therapy is particularly effective for:
- Acute and chronic pain: lower back pain, neck pain, tendinitis
- Tendinopathies: tennis elbow, Achilles tendinitis, shoulder tendinitis
- Sprains and contusions
- Post-surgical scar healing and chronic wounds
- Muscle injuries: tears, contractures, strains
- Osteoarthritis and joint stiffness
- Neuralgia
How it works
The laser radiation penetrates the tissues and triggers biochemical reactions at the cellular level (mitochondrial activation, increased ATP, improved microcirculation). The result: a rapid reduction of inflammation and pain, and a marked acceleration of healing of muscles, tendons and other soft tissues.
How a session unfolds
A session lasts between 5 and 15 minutes depending on the area treated. The treatment is completely painless — at most you will feel a slight warm sensation. The number of sessions varies from 3 to 10 depending on your condition, at a rate of 2 to 3 sessions per week for optimal results.
Advantages of laser therapy
- Rapid pain relief, sometimes from the first session
- No drug-related side effects
- Non-invasive and painless treatment
- Healing times often shorter than with traditional treatments
- Ideal complement to physiotherapy and therapeutic massage
